Janette Hope, MD, FAAEM, DABEM, DABFM, is a board certified family practitioner who has also completed the training and certification requirements to become a diplomate and in the fields of Environmental Medicine with certification through the American Board of Environmental Medicine in 2011 and in Integrative Medicine through the American Board of Physician Specialties affiliated American Board of Integrative Medicine in 2016. Additionally, she became a fellow through the American Academy of Environmental Medicine in 2012. Dr. Hope graduated from the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine in 1995 where she earned Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society honors and received multiple awards including an award for excellence in pulmonary medicine. Dr. Hope then completed family practice residency at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center in 1998 and has maintained her board certification in family medicine since then where she has scored in the top 3% of examinees. She has worked as a family doctor in many capacities, including routine out-patient clinic work, prenatal and obstetric care, urgent care, private practice, student health, and work at county medical clinics and in the field of developmental disabilities and autism. She currently has a busy solo environmental medicine practice in Santa Barbara, California where she sees patients from throughout the US and international patients. Dr. Hope has spoken at multiple conferences nationally and internationally on the topics of water damaged buildings and environmental toxins and coordinates and speaks at mold and mycotoxin training courses through the American Academy of Environmental Medicine. Dr. Hope has been published in peer reviewed journals on the topic of mold and mycotoxins and Hawaiian health. She has served as a guest editor for the Journal of Environmental and Public Health and regularly serves as a peer reviewer for medical journals. She has actively promoted improved indoor air quality in schools and was president of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine from 2013-2014. She currently serves on the board of directors for the American Academy of Environmental Medicine, the American Board of Environmental Medicine and the Global Indoor Health Network.
